The Collocott family name can be located in the Devon area at around the early 1800 period and may have lived in the village of Horrabridge.  The area was known for tin mining and it is believed a John Collocott born 1805, was a stone mason and builder.
It has been established that a James Collocott left Horrabridge, Devon and came to live in South Australia in 1854, later moving to Victoria and living in Melbourne.  Research can indicate variations and inconsistencies of the family name but it is of great interest to know the history so far.
